Money matters
Young people have the opportunity to engage with the Financial Secretary, the Hon. John Tsang on Friday. The dialogue session, with more than 260 students, will enable young people to share their concerns and question Mr. Tsang on aspects of his Budget, including the policy of one off measures vis-à-vis long term planning.
Meeting today's leaders and having an opportunity to talk to them is something to which the Federation is deeply committed. The event will take place at the HKFYG Jockey Club Media multimedia centre (M21) in Shek Pai Wan in Aberdeen. There will be a live broadcast of the dialogue with the Financial Secretary on M21's uTV. Already, the M21 youth production teams have filmed 15 one-minute video clips on the meaning of terms such as "big market, small government", positive non-interventionism, inflation and deflation, and proposed government spending. Now is the time to ask the questions face to face.

Recognition for HKFYG young volunteers in Social Welfare Department
Hong Kong Outstanding Youth Volunteers Scheme
Mr Wong Chan-chuen, Ms Lam Tsz-ying, Ms Law Wan-chung, Ms Tsang Lok-chi and Ms Sin Wai-man, all HKFYG volunteers, received awards at this year's Hong Kong Outstanding Youth Volunteers Scheme in recognition of their active contribution to the community. The award ceremony was on 2 March 2013, at Y-Theatre, Youth Square, and the scheme is run by the Social Welfare Department. On the same occasion, the results of the 2012 Best Student and Youth Volunteering Project Competition were released. Three HKFYG projects won awards. Two were conducted by Leadership 21 and the other award went to Tsuen Wan Youth SPOT. Well done to them all! Contact Doris Lee tel 2169 0032 for more information.

Creative Youth Musical from HKFYG's Neighbourhood First community project coming up again
Neighbourhood! Stand By You! is the name of the musical to be performed again by popular demand on 8-9 April 2013 at Y Square Theatre. The musical, first on stage last August, is written, performed and produced by over 100 youth connected with HKFYG's Neighbourhood First community project. Call for nominations: Global Citizens Programme 2013 in San Francisco
The Dragon Foundation is pleased to announce that the Global Citizens Programme 2013 will be held from 9 to 19 June in San Francisco in collaboration with the Stanford Center for Professional Development. The theme is Social Media in Action. We are now inviting local universities to nominate outstanding Chinese undergraduates in any field or year of study. Nominees should have demonstrated leadership skills, an excellent academic record, talent in non-academic areas and a commitment to serve the community. Closing date for nominations: 13 April 2013. HKFYG ‧ Jockey Club International a cappella Festival begins
The talent-packed HKFYG Jockey Club International a cappella Festival 2013 is on from 14 March till 27 April and the first three events take place this week. Warm thanks to major sponsor, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and all partners. The first three events are concerts on 14-16 March followed by a Musical Charity Dinner in the Hong Kong Country Club on Monday 18 March. Taking part in these events are The Exchange (US), MayTree (Korea) and Oxford's Out of the Blue (UK).The House Jacks (US) will be performing at City Hall on 2 April. Hong Kong United Youth Association donates tickets for private film preview
The Hong Kong United Youth Association donated tickets for a private pre-screening of the new movie Saving General Yang on Saturday 9 March at UA cinema in Cityplaza, Taikoo Place. The film's director, Mr Ronny Yu, also attended the screening and talked to the audience after the movie. Saving General Yang, an epic war movie will be on general release in Hong Kong from 4 April. Donation of Italian cake for underprivileged families by Valdivia Ltd
Many thanks to Valdivia Ltd for their recent donation of over 250 Panettone and Pandoro cakes. These were distributed to low income families taking part in the Federation's Rice-giving Scheme in Shaukeiwan and Tai Po. HKFYG Youth Crime Prevention Centre releases findings
of study on juvenile delinquency
The Youth Crime Prevention Centre (YCPC) released the results of a study on the causes of juvenile delinquency on 12 March 2013. 145 youth aged 11-20 with deviant or criminal behaviour were studied. It was found that 83% committed crimes or engaged in deviant behaviour because they underestimated the consequences. 75% of them were influenced by undesirable peer pressure or encouragement. 60% were lacking in parent-child attachment. YCPC suggests enhancing young people's law abiding nature through multidisciplinary cooperation, and by encouraging the development of good judgement for recognizing deviant and criminal messages on the internet or among peers. HKFYG's LEAD (Learning through Engineering, Art and Design) Centre's English book, Super Scratch Programming Adventure!
