Young People put Neighbourhood First
We all belong to neighbourhoods and by just being neighbourly, we all contribute to a collective spirit of harmony and well being in the whole community.
Being good neighbours is not just about showing care and concern to others. It is also about developing a sense of responsibility and civic mindedness.
This Chinese New Year, 100 youth Neighbourhood Teams will host 450 tables for 5000 people in all of Hong Kong's 18 districts This celebratory lunch is the second of its kind and perfectly exemplifies what it is to be a good neighbour. With the Chief Secretary of Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam as the Guest of Honour, we encourage everyone to emulate young people and put Neighbourhoods First!

Youth demonstrate care for neighbours at Neighbourhood First reunion lunch in Tin Shui Wai as Chinese New Year approaches
The Neighbourhood First annual reunion lunch on 2 February celebrates our major community building programme at the approach of the Chinese New Year. The event is supported by senior and local government officials, chairpersons of District Councils, community leaders and neighbourhood commercial partners. At the main venue in Tin Shui Wai, young people will stage a variety show called "Blessings to our Neighbours," with music, dance, and taekwondo. It tells the story of how volunteer Neighbourhood Teams dissolve disharmony by looking after their neighbours. The show's climax is a lion dance in which many guests will take part. A date for your diary: 18 March 2013: A Cappella Musical Dinner at the Hong Kong Country Club
A cappella in town is coming up again with a musical dinner at the Hong Kong Country Club on 18 March 2013. It will feature Out of the Blue from Oxford University, America's The Exchange, and MayTree from Korea. The Federation's Hong Kong Melody Makers will join this star studded cast for an unforgettable evening. Each table for ten is available for HK$30,000. So far, sponsors include Funful Group of Schools, Sear Rogers International School, Sino Group, Continental Cement and Gypsum Co Ltd and HSBC. Please do join us and raise the hopes of youth. Enroll now with YBHK to hear talk by founder of Hong Kong Economic Times on ups and downs of entrepreneurship
On 26 February at HKFYG HQ in North Point, Dr Lawrence Fung, GBS, founder and Chairman of the Hong Kong Economic Times will tell young people interested in doing business how it is to be an entrepreneur. The talk is the second in a series organized by the Federation's Youth Business Hong Kong (YBHK) that is supported by the Love Ideas Love Hong Kong Project. 10th Anniversary of HKFYG's Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest
gets off to a fine start
This year's contest has attracted over 1,800 applications from more than 200 schools and has once again received loyal support from the Standard Chartered Bank. Shortlisted students enter the semi-finals this weekend, competing to be among the 5 finalists on 23 February. Winners may represent Hong Kong in The 11th '21st Century Cup' National High School & Primary School English Competition held on the mainland in late-March, and the International Public Speaking Competition 2013 held in London in May. Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant supports Youth Volunteer Network video campaign
Young people like sharing their lives on social media, so in response to International Volunteer Day (VDay) 2012, HKFYG's Youth Volunteer Network (YVN) launched a campaign called I'm a Volunteer - LOVE to SHARE, which has support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant. It continues till the end of February, encouraging volunteers to make videos that show the joy they discover as young volunteers with people in need. Policy Address round-table and dialogue sessions webcast at HKFYG
HKFYG has begun broadcasting discussions on the policy address between students and high-level government officials. The first discussion took place on 23 January at HKFYG's M21 Hong Kong Jockey Club Multimedia Centre with Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration. This was followed by sessions with Professor Anthony Cheung, Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Eddie Ng, Secretary for Education, Mr Matthew Cheung, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, and Mr Wong Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment.
