Three NEW Rs: reduce, re-use, recycle
One side of The HKFYG Building in North Point looks out over Braemar Hill. Lush green countryside that tells us that Hong Kong is not all about concrete buildings and a reminder that this is something that we must preserve.
As our young people become more and more aware of the need for environmental protection, the risks of air and water pollution, and the principles of conservation and preservation, we need to set a good example for them, to show them that caring for the environment is more than simply "talking the talk".

All of us have a responsibility. At the Federation, we too are Going Green, with the best green practices, with green campuses, a green roof and green awareness. We ask that you share our message: to Reduce the amount of waste we produce; to Re-use rather than throw away items; and to Recycle as much as possible. These are the top Three Rs that we at the Federation, like many others around the world, now stand by. |

HKFYG Summer Youth Programme
new
40% subsidy scheme for underprivileged youth
The HKFYG Summer Youth Programme is about to begin and a new 40% discount scheme on specified courses will give low-income family members a better chance of benefiting. The scheme works on a first-come-first-served basis. There are thousands of activities to choose from and standard charges are also low, ranging from $10 for self-directed activities to $550 for taught courses. Activities from mid-July to mid-August include PS Café classes on how to run a café. Ideal for school leavers these are at HKFYG's Jockey Club Ping Shek Youth SPOT. Perfect for budding pop musicians, Form Your Own Band (FYOB) is on during the same period at the HKFYG Tin Shui Youth SPOT and in Tin Shui Wai District. 2012 China Week: The Heritage of Chinese Ink
Masterpieces by Xu Beihong on display
HKFYG has two events taking place in July to celebrate China Week. In the first, 60 students from the Hong Kong Design Institute will demonstrate animations of selected paintings by celebrated artist, Xu Beihong. The exhibition is held in cooperation with the Hong Kong Design Institute and the Xu Beihong Arts Committee at the Hong Kong City Hall Exhibition Hall, on 4 July 10am-6pm and on 5 July from 10am-5pm. A launch ceremony takes place on Wednesday 4 July at 2.30pm. Admission free. Call 3755 7021 for more information.

Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2012/13
For the 12th year in succession, HKFYG, with the Tourism Commission, is organizing the fantastically successful Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme. The Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence is a co-organizer and Power Logistics Ltd sponsors printing costs. After complimentary training sessions, with a series of talks, workshops, company visits and mentorship, the Young Ambassadors meet and greet visitors at Hong Kong's tourist hotspots. A group project competition takes place from 16 July-31 August this year and the scheme runs from 1 September 2012-31

HKFYG's Youth Employment Network is co-organizing a Youth Career Expo with the Labour Department Youth Pre-employment Training Programme and Youth Work Experience Training Scheme (YWETs). On 27 June 2012 at Tsuen Wan Discovery Park from 10am-6pm, 4 tailor-made YWETs projects will be introduced to visitors. These are the Hong Kong International Airport Airport Ambassadors, Ocean Park Theme Park Food & Beverage Services Trainee Scheme, Ocean Park Theme Park Sales Assistant Trainee Scheme and Speedy Group Ltd IT Assistant Trainee Scheme. LEAD collaborates with IBM for EWeek Hong Kong 2012
LEAD has a new partnership with IBM China/Hong Kong Ltd called EWeek Hong Kong 2012. EWeek (Engineers Week) runs from 9-13 July and is a signature programme of the US National Engineers Week Foundation. A celebration of the positive contributions made by engineers, it acts as a catalyst for outreach to children and adults alike. EWeek Hong Kong 2012 includes a seminar on engineering with hands-on activities for glider design. Approximately 600 primary and secondary students will be registered for the activities. Hang Seng Bank Leaders to Leaders Lecture Series 2012 at HKU
The next three lectures in the Hang Seng Bank Leaders to Leaders Lecture Series 2012 are coming up at the Rayson Huang Theatre, HKU. On 5 July, Mr Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBS, JP, Chairman, Council for Sustainable Development, will speak about Revitalization and Conservation. On 9 July, Mr Douglas Young, founder of commercial outlet chain G.O.D., talks about the Hong Kong Brand. The third talk on 10 July is by Prof Chung-mau LO, Head of Surgery, University of Hong Kong. Understanding Conflict through Global Perspective is the theme of the 8th Dragon Foundation Global Citizenship Programme. Supported by the Victor and William Fung Foundation Ltd, the 2012 event focuses on events such as the Arab Spring, the Occupy Wall Street campaign, debate over carbon tax schemes, human rights and intellectual property.
