A Century of China
A Century of China on stage in multimedia
A multimedia production depicting China's rich history is a highlight of the Federation's 2011 China Week, commemorating the century since the 1911 Revolution. Financial Secretary, The Hon John Tsang, GBM, JP, will be the
Guest of Honour at the show on the afternoon of Monday, 4th July. The hope is that this creative and colourful experiment in historical narrative will spark young people's interest and awareness of their mainland roots.

Supported by Hopewell Holdings Ltd, Hopewell Highway Infrastructure Ltd and Oregon Scientific Hong Kong Ltd, performances of the multimedia show are produced and directed by RTHK and will take place at Star Hall, KITEC. Film shows and musicals, exhibitions and competitions make up the 2011 China Week programme. The purpose is to bring mainland history to life, showing some of the achievements, setbacks, struggles and challenges of China's development in the past 100 years.

  Exam Broadband mobile app just released by HKFYG Youthline
A level results come out next week and a new mobile app from HKFYG, 公考寬頻 (Exam Broadband) has just been released. It has an A-level result
calculator, finds accredited, self-financed, post-secondary programmes and further education information. It's designed to help A level students decide on their next step in learning and is free from the App Store and at the Android Market. Life Education Movie Seminar on
27 June for HKFYG Values Video Library

A feature film by Yeung Siu-fong, the paralympic swimmer, has been produced by HKFYG's eServices to serve as a demo clip for the new Values Video Library. It will be used as teaching material for students in this Life Education Movie Seminar taking place in the HKFYG Theatre, 4.30-6.30pm on Monday 27 June. Other movies made by young people to promote sound values in life will be added to the Values Video Library and will serve as further educational material for the seminar. Yeung Siu-fong and Director, Jeremy Yung, will be there as guests to share their views with the audience. The Values Video Library will be launched in October. Building a Green China: Hang Seng Bank Leaders to Leaders Lecture Series 2011 with Dr Sarah Liao
The seventh lecture in the series will be given on Saturday 7 July, from 10am till 12.30 by Dr. Sarah Sau-tung M LIAO, GBS, JP, Senior Advisor to the University of Hong Kong Vice-Chancellor. Funding from Youth Cyber Outreach Project from
Lotteries Fund

A grant of HK $5.2 million has been made to the Federation by the Lotteries Fund to run a Pilot Cyber Youth Outreaching Project for the next three years. It will serve young people aged 24 and below, in particular those at risk of compulsive internet use, and the so-called 'hidden' youth, who are difficult to find and help. The project will begin in August. HKFYG is one of three NGOs involved.

Hang Seng Bank Chinese Youth Film Contest deadline for entries 15 July
This Federation contest has title sponsorship from Hang Seng Bank. Leading industry figures will act as judges, including actors, directors and designers from Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan. Their criteria include film content, creativity and technical skills.
The contest deadline is 15 July 2011 and adjudication will take place in August. Prizes worth over HK$45,000 will be given in September for Best Video and Best Director in both the Trailer Section and the Drama Section. Best Actor/Actress and Best Story awards will also be given. Ocean Park works with HKFYG and HKCSS to offer free entry to needy youth
Hong Kong Ocean Park, with the help of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), is providing free tickets to benefit members of HKCSS organizations this month. The Federation has distributed 1,300 of these tickets to underprivileged youth from CSSA-recipient and low-income families, giving them the rare opportunity to visit Ocean Park. Apps@Smartphone Asia Expo: free tickets sponsored by World Exhibition Ltd
HKFYG gave away hundreds of free tickets to members and service users for this large-scale exhibition, courtesy of World Exhibition Ltd. Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 17-19 June, the expo displayed many categories of apps for mobile phones, including games, music, social media, news, travel and business. HKFYG u21 journalism courses in July and August partnered by National Geographic,
HKU and ONN

Three exciting new courses for students are being run in July and August with an intake of approximately 100 students each. They are organized with faculty from the University of Hong Kong, film-makers from National Geographic and TV reporters from ONN (Outdoor News Network). Practical film-making on topical social issues such as street-sleepers, solitary elderly folk, the disabled, ethnic minorities and student protests is included. There will be workshops, clinics and visits to TV and media studios with talks from media researchers, veteran TV news anchors and cameramen.
