  Congratulations all round. Well done!
January has been a month to celebrate. A team from HKFYG's Hong Kong 200 leadership project was crowned champions in
a global warming awareness-raising competition organized by Civic Exchange during the C40 Hong Kong Workshop. The prize is a trip to the South Pole with Sir Robert Swan, arctic explorer and environmental leader. As team leader Dixon Kwong said, 'this reinforces our determination to clean up Hong Kong's environment.'

The Federation's www.uChannel.hk won the Gold Prize (Corporate Group) and HK$20,000 in the 2010 Top 10.hk Website Competition. YS Choi, in charge of the Federation's Youth SPOT 21, believes the recognition is 'a rewarding endorsement of the platform's relevance for youthful self-expression.'

HKFYG staff members Cecilia Ng and Zeno Lam were named Outstanding Social Worker and Young Outstanding Social Worker respectively. Cecilia said, 'I feel happy and surprised about winning and see it as encouragement and recognition for my work with young people.' Zeno, who works with marginal youth said, 'to understand them means looking beyond delinquent behaviour and seeing their dissatisfactions and disadvantages. Then, the joint efforts of a tolerant society can reintegrate them.'

Survey of students reveals a third who have frequently experienced online addiction
The HKFYG Youth Wellness Centre administered the survey last November among 1,500 students in the 31 secondary schools where we offer social services. The HKFYG Youth Research Centre analyzed the data.

When given a definition of addictive symptoms
and asked how often these symptoms had been experienced, over 30% of the respondents said they frequently experienced online addiction. A quarter also said that they had rarely or occasionally experienced the symptoms of alcohol addiction. Roughly 10%-13% had experienced addictive symptoms
connected with gambling, dieting or making unpleasant videos of others without their permission.

Over a third of the respondents said they would not seek help if they were addicted. Nearly 70% said that they could tell the difference between a hobby and an addiction. Over half said that they had good self-control and would not easily get addicted.
