Hongkong Bank Foundation District CommunityProgramme with HKFYG Youth SPOT in Tin Shui Wai
Meeting Your Real Self and Caring for the Community are the dual goals of a new project for women at HKFYG's Jockey Club Tin Yuet Youth SPOT. The project is being supported by Hong Kong Bank Foundation funding from September 2010 till January 2011. Meeting your real self is a day training camp that promotes communication skills for Tin Shui Wai women from low-income families and new arrivals. Some of these women are stressed by the responsibilities of child-rearing, fragile marital relationships and heavy financial burdens. By sharing their knowledge, talent and skills as tutors in handicrafts, cooking and music they can build self-confidence and create a neighbourhood social support network. In Caring for the Community, participants from similar backgrounds are encouraged to visit single mothers and senior citizens living alone. The project helps isolated women contribute to their community and integrate better with the Hong Kong culture and environment. For more info contact Siu-Kwan, tel 2445 5777.
