HK200 Leadership Project leaves
on tour to Beijing
The Hong Kong 200 Leadership
Project selects young leaders for their commitment to serve the community. It provides platforms, workshops and forums where they interact, learn and meet key figures in Hong Kong and China. Each year since 2006, 200 participants have been trained to increase their leadership competence and understand better the complexities of the Basic Law and national development.

Today, this year's group sets off to Beijing where they will deepen their understanding further, gain international perspective and meeting mainland specialists. The programme, arranged by the All-China Youth Federation, features distinguished academics, tailor-made training, and interaction with youth leaders and professionals. On their return they will make presentations based on what they have learned, become members of the 1000-strong alumni of the Hong Kong 200 Association and put their skills into practice. Statistics on counselling for Form 5 students
Many worried students and parents called the Federation's hotline service this year, concerned about exam results and the implications of the changed education system. Information, advice and emotional support were given in nearly 9,000 cases by the Form 5 Broadband counsellors from 26 July to 11 August. They included almost 7,000 on the hotline and over 2,000 online. 75% of the hotline callers were students and 17% were parents. 40% of enquiries were from those who scored 13 points or below in the recent HKCEE exams. They were very anxious about not getting school places of any kind, whether in the sixth form, for vocational training, for pre-associate degrees or catch-up courses with Project Yi Jin.
