Global Youth Service Day 2008

Taking part: working for the community
Nature conservation, visits to the needy, heritage preservation and park clean-ups: these are just a
few examples of the many community volunteer projects HKFYG organized last year to put the annual spotlight on Global Youth Service Day. This worldwide effort mobilizes youth to contribute time and energy and Hong Kong youngsters are highly recognized for participating with gusto.

Volunteering creates bonds and a sense of belonging. The Federation is proud to say that over 220 volunteer services involving over 11,500 young people took place last April and over 24,700 needy people benefitted as a result. Helping builds self-esteem and self-confidence, and looking after others and the environment are first steps in growing up into a responsible adult. This year's dates for your diary are 24-26 April. Nobody regrets time given away meaningfully. Contact Anna of VNET, tel 2169 0032, to get started.
