English Public Speaking Contest 2008

Public speaking with confidence
Good public speaking is an art that involves some very useful skills. It gives empowerment which great orators and junior
employees alike can use to their advantage because excellent speakers not only create rapport but also make a lasting impression on their audience. Once mastered, public speaking skills can give a young person confidence to present anything, from a new theory to new product. In a competitive world this is a great asset.

The Federation's Standard Chartered Hong Kong English Public Speaking Contest was designed to give youth the opportunity to acquire such skills and put them into practice. At the same time, contestants are motivated to sharpen their spoken English, gaining another valuable accomplishment. With the number of applications for the contest climbing every year, reluctantly we have to limit entries. 1400 participated in the first round and the finals are next week. The English Speaking Union is the co-organizer and the senior champion may go on to represent Hong Kong in London. See below for more details.
