Youth polls on the Olympics
HKFYG's Youth Poll no. 176 collected feedback from young people on the Olympics and asked whether they thought the Games had helped China become more internationally integrated. Two surveys were conducted. The first, with 507 respondents aged 15-39, took place before the opening ceremony. The second polled 343 young people aged 15-39 from 17-21 August 2008.
The earlier survey showed that 44% of respondents thought the strongest aspect of China's international image was that it had "moved forward."

Nearly 30% felt proud of their country's ability to host such an event. |

Over 86% shared the view that hosting the Games was an important step forward in the process of integration with the international community. |

Over 47% believed that China's economic development was the best indicator of this integration. |
In the later survey, over 61% said that their sense of pride in being Chinese had grown since the Games began. This was a record high for an HKFYG survey. Of all the Chinese athletes, the most admired were Guo Jingjing (43.0%), Liu Xiang (24.8%) and Yang Wei (22.1%)
